Choose one pattern you want to work on. Explore Jewish teachings, try a short daily practice, and reflect on what you notice over four weeks.
One focus · A practice under three minutes · A moment to check in
Your reading can give you questions to consider. It cannot decide who you are or what happens next. The Ascent helps you choose something to practice in everyday life.
Pick what you would like to practise. You will see the first week’s practice, its source, and the check-in — the same card a member sees on day one. No account needed.
Pause before reacting. · Anger כַּעַס
You feel the heat rise and it does not get to decide the next sentence. Firmness stays available — you can correct a child or hold a line — but it is chosen, delivered at the volume you meant, and does not need repairing an hour later. Rambam sets the target for anger nearer the calm extreme than for any other trait: not because nothing should matter, but because anger takes the wheel so fast that the middle cannot be reached from inside it.
The long breath
Erech apayim — slow to anger — means long-breathed. Today, when the heat rises, before any word: one slow breath in, a longer one out, three times, counted. The words that follow may be exactly the ones you had. The practice is only that they come after the third breath, not before the first.
NETIVOT OLAM, NETIV HAKAAS 1
Our summary: "Slow to anger" is literally long-breathed. The one who rules his spirit is greater than one who takes a city, because he conquers something that is not material — and quick anger sifts folly out of even an intelligent person.

Every source links to the text on Sefaria, and each link was checked to resolve. A link proves the passage exists — not that it endorses our exercise. The adaptation is ours and is labelled as ours. A human review of the whole practice library by a qualified reader is in progress and not yet complete.

The Study Partner is AI. Up to 60 messages a calendar month. It can suggest a focus from what you tell it; the choice stays yours. It does not diagnose, cite sources, or write the practices — those come word for word from a hand-written library.
Already reading the free Daily Tikkun? Keep it. The Ascent adds one sustained focus, four weeks of practice for it, and check-ins. Paid readings are not included in The Ascent — Complete ($20 a month) adds a reading credit every month, unlimited relationship readings and 120 messages. Compare all plans →
$12 a month, billed monthly, or $96 a year, billed annually. The annual plan works out to $8 a month and costs $48 less than twelve monthly payments. There is no free trial; the free reading and the free Daily Tikkun are the trial.
Yes. Both plans renew to the card you give Stripe until you cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals; your access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. There is no prorated refund for the unused part of a period. Our 14-day make-it-right promise applies to your first payment.
No. A focus runs for 28 days of practice from the day you choose it — four weekly practices, one a week. Billing renews on its own date every month or year. When a cycle ends you review it and choose the next focus whenever you are ready; a monthly plan does not wait for the cycle and the cycle does not wait for the plan.
One focus at a time from a library of eight; four weekly practices for each, each under three minutes a day, with its source linked on Sefaria; a daily practice email; a nightly check-in; a review at the end of each cycle; and the AI Study Partner conversation, limited to 60 messages a calendar month. The Sealed Reading and other paid readings are not included.
No. The membership stands on its own. A reading can raise a useful question; it is not required, and nothing in a chart decides your focus. You do.
No. It is an AI conversation with one job: help you say, in your own words, what you would like to be different, and suggest which of the eight focuses is closest. You accept, change or decline the suggestion. It does not diagnose anything, does not cite sources, and does not write the practices.

Neither. The Ascent is education and reflection: Jewish sources, a short daily practice and a check-in. It is not therapy, medical care or a crisis service, and it predicts nothing. Difficult feelings are not character defects, and no practice here replaces care you need. If you are in distress, please contact a professional or emergency services where you live.
Cycle complete. Choose your next focus below — the same one again, or the one now in the way.
Explore it with the AI Study Partner, or choose directly below. The Study Partner may suggest a focus from your own words; you accept, change or decline it. Not therapy, not a crisis service. What you write is kept for 90 days; the focus you choose and your check-ins stay until you ask us to delete them.
